| GEMFIRE FOR SERVICE ORIENTED ARCHITECTURES (SOAs) |
 |
Service-oriented architectures (SOAs) are being deployed to better leverage heterogeneous IT applications and drive user-driven business workflows. Such an SOA-based approach introduces an abstraction layer between clients and the underlying service implementations. As a result, such infrastructures need to brace themselves for unpredictable data access patterns both from a timing and duration standpoint. Furthermore, client loads can be sporadic, leading to scalability problems. In addition, certain long-running business processes and their resulting data needs need to be addressed efficiently to avoid timeouts, session expiry, and other errors. These challenges impede the successful deployment of most SOA-based solutions and lead to unreliable performance and non-compliance of service-level agreements and quality of service agreements.
The GemFire Enterprise Data Fabric provides a distributed data backplane for SOA. The data virtualization capabilities coupled with the high-performance data access and high data availability mechanisms make such a fabric an absolute necessity in SOA environments. Such a fabric guarantees reliable and efficient orchestration of Web services and optimized management of XML data. The GemFire Enterprise Data Fabric can be applied to cache business data or customer data, store contextual states across tasks in a business process, and replicate sessions for Web access in clusters.
