GemStone Systems Announces Availability of GemStone/S™ 6.0.1 and GemBuilder for Java 2.0™

The company has also released a new version of GemBuilder for Java 2.0, the technology that pairs the portability and flexibility of Java with the scalability of an object server for enterprise-wide business applications. The new release of GemStone/S 6.0.1 improves performance, scalability and system administration and because of several bugs fixes, the technology solution is more suitable for a production-ready infrastructure. Based on customer feedback and extensive product testing, GemStone/S 6.0.1 and GemStone Builder for Java 2.0 have been designed to meet user’s requirements for developing scalable, mission-critical applications.

Performance Improvements to the GemBuilder for Java 2.0
The new version of GemBuilder for Java 2.0 provides an enhanced and easier to use interface between the Java clients and the GemStone/S while containing functionality similar to GemBuilder for Smalltalk. Since GemBuilder for Java’s development tools are implemented in Java, developers can create both Java clients and Smalltalk-based GemStone/S applications without leaving their preferred development environment. The latest 2.0 version of the product also supports the latest Sun Microsystems JDK (Java Developer’s Kit). Improvements have also been made to the debugger as well as making significant product bug fixes.

GemStone/S 6.0.1 and GemBuilder for Java 2.0 are available immediately. GemStone/S 6.0.1 supports the following platforms, Sun Solaris 2.8, Hewlett- Packard HP-UX 11.0 and 11.11, IBM AIX 4.3 and 5.1, Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 (SP5+) and Microsoft Windows 2000.
