GemStone Systems Announces Industry's First C++ Enterprise Data Fabric GemFire's low latency, virtualized data approach to solving problems in grid environments is now available for C++ applications BEAVERTON , OREGON , September 12, 2005 - GemStone Systems today announced the release of GemFire Enterprise - C++, an enterprise data fabric (EDF) that provides a distributed data store for delivering information to applications at low latencies. With this release, GemFire now includes native support for Java, C++ and XML applications. GemFire Enterprise - C++ is the industry's first EDF to support C++ applications, providing organizations with the means to move data quickly and with reduced latency to any type of application. Current methods of getting information to C++ applications, such as direct connections to databases and enterprise application integration (EAI), are largely ineffective in distributed architectures. GemFire is unique in its ability to offer native support for multiple languages and formats - XML, C++, Java, among others, meaning applications often need to adhere to different protocols to access data and also perform expensive unmarshalling and transformation operations . C# application developers, too, can leverage the benefits of the data fabric and deploy scalable, high-performance solutions on Microsoft platforms. Low-latency in environments such as trading can translate to millions of dollars in increased volumes. A large percentage of industrial grid deployments and analytic environments are based upon C/C++ languages. Such environments can greatly benefit from an EDF such as GemFire Enterprise - C++. "We have recognized a strong demand for native data management of C/C++ applications in the market place," said Shankar Iyer, executive vice president, GemStone Systems. "By developing a C++ deployment topology within GemFire suite of products, we've brought to the market a method to improve data flows in truly heterogeneous environments." The key features of GemFire Enterprise - C++ include:
The Perfect Storm As distributed environments continue to see wide-scale adoption within the enterprise, organizations are increasingly finding themselves engulfed in a data "perfect storm." Three trends are occurring within many organizations simultaneously, taxing already overworked data systems. Organizations are being faced with the following data intensive needs:
GemFire helps to alleviate the perfect storm by providing an enterprise data fabric that sits between data sources and applications. By creating an on-demand virtualized store for data from multiple sources in multiple formats through multiple language interfaces, data can get to where it needs to go quicker, with fewer roadblocks. "The pace of change occurring within the typical enterprise is staggering," said Shankar Iyer, executive vice president, GemStone Systems. "Executive teams and IT teams alike recognize the benefits of distributed architectures, but as they become deployed, they realize a new approach to moving data is needed. An enterprise data fabric is the logical solution as it provides a heterogeneous and easy to integrate method for reducing latency and virtualizing data." About GemStone Systems, Inc. GemStone Systems is a privately held infrastructure software company that provides data services solutions for enterprise business architects and data infrastructure managers that are building, enhancing or simplifying access, distribution, integration and management of information within and across the enterprise. Founded in 1982, and with over 200 installed customers, GemStone is recognized worldwide for its unique competency and patented technology in object management, virtual memory architectures, high-performance caching, and data distribution technologies. About GemFire GemFire, the enterprise data fabric (EDF), provides a scalable, distributed platform to manage increasing volumes of enterprise data and streaming events with almost zero-latency. With advanced data virtualization, distributed caching and complex event processing (CEP) capabilities, the GemFire EDF enables the delivery of actionable information to the right application at the right time. The GemFire product suite includes GemFire Enterprise, GemFire Enterprise - C++, and GemFire Real-Time Events. More information is available at www.gemstone.com. |
