PRESS RELEASE

GemStone Systems to Discuss Next-Generation Data Management Strategies to Power High Performance Grids at Platform Grid Conference 2006

WHAT:

GemStone Systems’ Jags Ramnarayan, chief architect, will examine next-generation data management strategies to power grid deployments at the Platform Grid Conference 2006 in San Francisco.

During his session, Data Management Strategies for High Performance Grids, Ramnarayan will explore the use of a data fabric as a distributed data management platform that can pool memory and disk across a grid, maximizing grid deployments. He will demonstrate the ability of a data fabric to deliver high performance data access to/from external data repositories by exposing key database and messaging semantics such as querying, transactions, persistence, publish-subscribe and event routing semantics. Techniques for seamlessly integrating a data fabric with Platform's Grid scheduling engine and EGO platforms will also be discussed.

WHO: With more than 15 years of development and management experience in the technology sector, Jags Ramnarayan is responsible for the direction of high-performance distributed data management software at GemStone Systems.  Prior to joining GemStone, Ramnarayan served as Web Services architect at BEA. He has also been a representative for several technology standards groups, including W3C, SOAP, and JAXM, and has been actively involved in J2EE platform specifications and EJB expert groups.  Ramnarayan is a frequent presenter at technical conferences such as ObjectExpo, JavaOne, and W3C workshops, and has been active in the field of distributed high-performance computing for over 10 years.

WHEN: Thursday, September 7

WHERE: Hilton San Francisco

Continental Ballroom 6

WHY: The ability to access data reliably, consistently and distribute it to hundreds of nodes with guaranteed throughput and minimal latency is crucial to deploying high performance applications on a grid infrastructure. As grid adoption for service oriented and other mainstream enterprise applications increases, provisioning data from disparate repositories across the network becomes a critical requirement. While enterprise architects cannot forgo investments in legacy data technologies, they must employ innovative methods to manage highly concurrent and unpredictable data access and distribution in a massive grid environment.

ABOUT: GemStone Systems is the leading provider of the Enterprise Data Fabric (EDF), delivering a pervasive, distributed data layer for highly available data-on-demand at memory speeds. The GemFire EDF operates seamlessly on multiple platforms in diverse operating environments with universal language support, enabling data virtualization and transparency of data sources to consuming applications. GemFire connects to databases, application stores, analytical tools, messaging systems, and mainframes, enabling the deployment of high-performance service-oriented architectures (SOAs) at significantly lower costs.
